In our introductory powerpoint, we looked at three videos that all had to do with change. The first video, titled "Social Media Revolution 2017," looked at how connected we are thanks to social media nowadays. We have come so far in such a short time in regards to technology, and now there are so many people on these social media websites. The second video, "Did You Know 2028," outlines how much the world is gonna change in 11 years from now. We can look at what changes will come about and trace them back to things that are happening right now. In the third video, called "Did You Know- these 2 minutes can change your life," we are informed that if we change the way we sit and get up more often, then our bodies will greatly benefit. As we can see, all three of these videos focus on change and what impact certain changes will have on our life.

Blog Post #5 Sweatshops are viewed as an oppressive work environment with inhumane procedures, but do they cause more good than harm? In the article, "Where Sweatshops Are a Dream," by Nicholas D. Kristof, he begins by providing an opposing view to Democrats and their plan to set up better labor standards. His main argument is that sweatshops are actually safe havens for the poor, and eliminating them would just make certain people's lives harder. Kristof assumes that his readers have good intentions, but thinks that they don't understand just how complex the issue of sweatshops are. Therefore, his purpose in this article is to open up people's minds on the complexity of this particular issue. In order to do this, Kristof appeals mainly to pathos, by providing a vivid image of a poor town in Cambodia, where people dream of working in sweatshops. Violent Media

Blog Post #3 Gerard Jones' essay on the impact violent media has on children covered a lot of ground. He talks about how certain media that may be considered inappropriate for children, such as comic books and rap music, helped him and many other kids not only cope with and escape the stresses of life, but also helped kids achieve a sense of self identity. Jones does touch on the fact that violent media can have a negative impact on children, but goes on to state that more young people are helped by it then are harmed. The discussion of violent media led me to think of how the media portrays violence, not necessarily in the form of entertainment or art, but how the news projects violent acts to the world. A recent example of this is the protests in Charlottesville, Virginia last month, where a group of white supremacists got together to protest the removal of a Confederate statue.
